The two Church of England parishes that form the United Benefice of Malpas, Threapwood, and Bickerton came together in 2011. We seek to serve the people of this rural community and bring the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ to all who live within the area.
Church buildings are often seen as old historic buildings and nothing more. But the church is not just a building and is far more than that. Our churches are at the heart of the communities in which they are situated, and they are also where the People of God gather to share their lives and faith together, through good times and bad times. They are open to all of the community and everybody will be welcomed whether you are a regular church-goer or not. Ultimately we hope that whoever you are, wherever you are from, you will encounter the presence of God in these buildings and in our worship, and be strengthened and transformed by his love.
All of our churches are special buildings – from the medieval splendour of St Oswald’s to the Victorian charm of Holy Trinity, and the unique early nineteenth-century building of St John’s, situated on the Welsh border.
Our churches are all active musically and socially – please have a look at our Events for details of concerts, recitals, fundraisers and social events.
